Small businesses are a critical part of our communities, offering bespoke products and meaningful personal connections that make each of our neighborhoods so special. Independent stores and family-owned businesses help create distinct personalities and senses of place in our communities, and as we all continue to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s more crucial than ever that we show up for them in the way they’ve been there for us. Read on for a selection of our Real Estate team’s favorite small businesses that we will be supporting this Small Business Saturday on November 28th.

Nellie’s Wildflowers

72 Holland St., Somerville, MA

Nellie’s in Davis Square is my go-to for when the occasion calls for flowers. Knowing next to nothing about flowers myself, I am greatly appreciative of how helpful and patient the staff is with me. Since people love getting flowers, I also love spreading joy while also supporting a great small business in my neighborhood.

Davis Squared

409 Highland Ave, Somerville, MA

Davis Squared is my favorite place to shop for gifts. I always know when I walk in that I will be able to get all the gifts on my list, and usually leave with something for myself too. They have the perfect selection for everyone on my shopping list, from my family and friends to my co-workers, and I am always able to find something with a personal touch. As someone whose love language is gift giving, Davis Squared is my haven.

American Provisions

613 E Broadway, South Boston, MA 02127

American Provisions, a small craft store and sandwich shop on East Broadway in South Boston, has quickly become a favorite destination of mine. Filled with fine wines, delicious cheeses, gourmet meats and other staples, this small but mighty shop offers something for everyone. The staff is friendly and helpful and the prepared foods are divine. This local staple is highly recommended for all your grocery needs.

Bow Market

1 Bow Market Way, Somerville, MA

Bow Market is located right in the heart of Union Square in Somerville, and has a wide variety of food and drink, clothing, jewelry, music, stationery, and book vendors. The space offers creative up-and-coming entrepreneurs an opportunity to build out their businesses affordably, and is a great place to hang out and support the local economy.

Crepeberry

352 Washington St, Wellesley, MA

CrepeBerry - Wellesley Massachusetts Restaurant - HappyCow

Crepeberry is a local brunch café located in Wellesley Center. They have a wide variety of tasty menu options including crepes, acai bowls, and bagel sandwiches. My go-to order is their Nutella and strawberry crepe – it’s delish. Looking to get a caffeine fix with your meal? Try their delicious Milky Way iced coffee!

Zone 5 Fitness

3 Hancock St, Boston, MA

Zone 5 Fitness is a small local gym located on the corner of Hancock Street in Beacon Hill. They offer general gym memberships as well as group classes, which have now shifted to outdoor and more intimate indoor classes to allow for appropriate social distancing. There is such a strong sense of community among the members and staff that creates both a welcoming and motivating atmosphere, even during the pandemic. Management has worked hard to create a safe, socially distant place for its members to work out, which has not gone unappreciated by their clients (including me!)

Livite

1644 Beacon St, Brookline, MA

Order Livite Delivery Online | Boston | Menu & Prices | Uber Eats

One of my favorite weekend treats, both before the pandemic and now, is a smoothie from Livite in Washington Square. They have an incredible list of smoothies, juices, salads, wraps and sandwiches, with great customer service! I’m so thankful they were able to reopen after shutting down in the spring, and that I can still reliably stop by for a delicious pick-me-up whenever the craving strikes.
