Business professionals tend to think of enterprises and institutions as components within of broad sectors and categories, like real estate, healthcare, higher education, government, etc. It can take a significant event for us to recognize that the sectors support each other and that there are real people and human relationships at the heart of our professional lives. Real estate professionals in the Boston area rely on police officers, firefighters and paramedics on a daily basis, but rarely was the need as evident as it was on April 15th – the day bombs exploded near the Boston Marathon finish line — and the days that ensued. To show its appreciation, the New England Affordable Housing Management Association (NEAHMA) is hosting the event “Honoring Our Heroes: Greater Boston R.E. Industry Gives Back” on September 11th at Jillian’s located at 145 Ipswich Street in Boston. The event will benefit the Boston Police Foundation and pay tribute to the first responders keeping us safe every day. The event kicks off at 4 p.m. with a reception offering an opportunity to socialize with fellow members of the real estate industry. There will also be a charity raffle with great prizes up for grabs. As everyone settles in, some of Boston’s best comedic talent will take the stage as Lamont Price, Dave McDonough and Tony V deliver an hour of laughter starting at 6 p.m. At 7 p.m., the focus will shift to thanking those who help keep the community safe. Roseann Sdoia, a real estate professional injured in the Marathon bombings, will speak along with Carl Barron of CARU Associate, and Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis. At this time, awards will be bestowed upon the heroic men and women of the Boston, Cambridge, Watertown, and Belmont police, fire and paramedic units to show appreciation for all they do for the real estate industry. You can purchase your ticket to attend or sponsor Honoring Our Heroes here. Additionally, the American Red Cross will be hosting a same-day blood drive at Fenway Park from 7 a.m. – 5 p.m., offering you an opportunity to donate on your way to the event.
