Healthcare Facilities Management recently asked our client, Skanska USA, to contribute an article about prefabrication and modularization, two innovative construction techniques that are becoming increasingly popular methods for healthcare construction projects. The methods bring many benefits to a construction project, including increased quality, safety and environmental sustainability. Both methods are also optimal for creating the complex, yet repetitive, components that populate health care facilities, such as vertical and horizontal mechanical-electrical-plumbing (MEP) systems, patient rooms, bathrooms, and clinical spaces. If you are interested in learning the differences between prefabrication and modularization, and/or gaining an overview of how the processes are managed, we recommend reading Skanska’s Healthcare Financial Management article “Improving project efficiency.”
