And then there were two.

For the first time since September’s preliminary narrowed the field of Boston mayoral hopefuls from 12 candidates to two finalists, City Councilor John Connolly and State Representative Martin Walsh will face off for a televised debate. Sponsored by WBZ and the Boston Globe, the debate takes place Tuesday night at 7 p.m. (Click here for details.)

After a preliminary with only one televised debate that featured 12 voices clamoring to be heard, Connolly and Walsh will have to be on top of their games. Both candidates have faced challenges recently—Walsh faced renewed focus on his union ties as the city’s school bus drivers went on strike, and Connolly faces an upcoming vote on a costly arbitration settlement on the City Council.

Solomon McCown will live-tweet tonight’s debate at @solomonmccown. Follow along and share your thoughts during the broadcast.
