Helene Solomon

Biography

Helene is the founder & Co-President of Solomon McCown & Cence, and melds a track record of work for some of the most recognized brands in their fields with an understanding of, and passion for, issues that stem from her background in politics, experience in the public sector, and board service. Helene has a passion for issues at the intersection of public policy and business. Working closely with entrepreneurs and CEOs, she has a unique ability to envision the communications approaches that achieve strategic objectives. Helene brings her many years of public sector and local political experience to the firm’s strategic work with public agencies, CEOs, and boards and in fine-tuning organizational initiatives including messaging, campaign development and thought leadership.

Helene is active in Greater Boston community affairs, serving on the Board of Directors of the Boston Chamber of Commerce, The Commonwealth Institute, Building Impact and the Massachusetts Health Council. Helene is on the Board of Advisors for the Harvard Kennedy School of Government Rappaport Institute for Greater Boston, a Gavel member of NAIOP Massachusetts and a member of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce and the Urban Land Institute. She previously served for many years on the Executive Committee of the Visiting Nurse Association of Boston, and as Chair of the Town of Brookline’s Transportation Board. She has also served on the Dean’s Advisory Committee at Boston University’s College of Communications, the Advisory Board of Boston Women Communicators and Metropolitan Boston Housing Partnership’s Leadership Committee.

Helene has a Distinguished Alumni Award from the Boston University College of Communications and was inducted into YW Boston’s 2014 Academy of Women Achievers. She was honored in 2015 with Lowell Richards Award from the Metropolitan Boston Housing Partnership for her numerous contributions in the field of affordable housing and named a 2016 Woman of FIRE by Banker & Tradesman. She is a recipient of the Massachusetts Women’s Political Caucus Abigail Adams Award, which recognized her longstanding support of women and the community. She is a lifetime member of The PR Club of New England, having twice served as its president, and has been selected as a Crystal Bell Winner, which recognized her significant contributions to the field of public relations. She is also currently a member of the editorial board of PR News.

Helene has a master’s degree in communications/public affairs journalism from The American University and a bachelor’s degree in public communication from Boston University.
