Next week, City Hall Plaza will be transformed from a blank canvas into “The HUB” an exciting and vibrant collection of geodesic domes and repurposed shipping containers master planned by the award-winning, Boston-based design firm CBT. These domes and containers will feature an array of art installations, musical attractions, exhibits and more. With the third annual HUBweek (October 10-15) just around the corner, we couldn’t be more excited to experience all that the six-day festival has to offer.

Here’s a list of five events that we cannot wait to attend:

Where: MIT, One Broadway, Cambridge

When: Wednesday, October 11th from 12pm-8pm

What: Hands-on activities for all ages culminating in a celebratory groundbreaking for MIT’s newest Graduate Student Residence Hall and the installation of a mural designed by the Community Art Center’s Teen Media Program.

Why we’re excited: With so many interactive activities going on in Kendall Square during this Innovation Playground, it’s hard to narrow down what we’re most excited for. Between laser graffiti, a GIF photo booth and drone racing – this event is not to be missed!

Where: 101 Seaport Blvd., Boston

When: Wednesday, October 11th at 6pm

What: Innovators in technology, services, and real estate explore how transformative design and innovations are improving today’s developments and lifestyle offerings.

Why we’re excited: This discussion will focus on how companies are innovating to improve existing issues that are often overlooked. We’re excited to learn how these companies are pioneering new living experiences for the future of city-living.

Where: The HUB, 1 City Hall Square, Boston

When: Friday, October 13th at 11:30am

What: A discussion on the issue of population increases and housing affordability shortages by a panel of community players working towards a solution.

Why we’re excited: Housing affordability is increasingly becoming an issue of contention among Boston residents. We’re interested in the fresh perspectives on how compact living and technology can address this obstacle faced by our urban communities.

Where: The HUB, 1 City Hall Square, Boston

When: Friday, October 13 at 12:45pm

What: A panel of women responsible for shaping the future of digital health discuss different areas of the health industry and how they relate to digital health.

Why we’re excited: As we move further into the 21st century, technology is becoming an everyday part of life. This panel is composed of female leaders that have worked to sync the health industry with modern technology.

Where: The HUB, 1 City Hall Square, Boston

When: Sunday, October 15 at 2:30pm

What: Boston-based architects, developers and thought leaders discuss how they are approaching resilient design for Boston’s future.

Why we’re excited: With recent natural disasters impacting our country, it’s encouraging to see that Boston’s leaders in real estate are looking to the future to ensure that the city we love stays afloat.
