MASSACHUSETTS HEALTH CARE QUALITY AND COST COUNCIL LAUNCHES "MYHEALTHCARE OPTIONS WEEK"
On Friday, January 30, 2009, the Massachusetts Healthcare Quality and Cost
Council (HCQCC), in partnership with Solomon McCown & Co. launched “MyHealthCareOptions
Week” at Fallon Community Health Plan in Worcester, MA.
The Commonwealth's Secretary of Health and Human Services, Dr. JudyAnn Bigby
(pictured center), Chair of the Massachusetts Health Care Quality and Cost
Council announced the launch of this special week and was joined by Council
Vice Chair, Joseph Lawler (left) of the Gaudreau Group and the National Association
of Insurance and Financial Advisors, and Eric Shultz (right), CEO of Fallon
Community Health Plan who both spoke to attendees about the value of the state’s
new MyHealthCareOptions website (http://hcqcc.hcf.state.ma.us/) and the benefits
of increased transparency in health care.
“MyHealthCareOptions Week” (January 30 – February 6, 2009)
is dedicated to encouraging the public to visit the site and inform colleagues,
family members and friends about the site as well.
SM& coordinated the announcement event in partnership with Fallon Community Health Plan, who graciously hosted more than 40 attendees at their site, including representatives from the Council, Advisory Committee and Worcester health care and business community.
MyHealthCareOptions, a first-in-the nation interactive website designed to promote transparency in the health care industry, had its official launch on Dec. 9, 2008. The website is the first to offer both comparative cost and quality information about medical procedures performed at Massachusetts hospitals and outpatient facilities. The goal: to help contain costs and improve the quality of care available to patients by educating them about their choices. Solomon McCown & Co., led the team that developed the website and the public launch. The collaborative team worked to ensure that the site is consumer friendly, easy to use, with information that is important to consumers.
