SOLOMON MCCOWN & COMPANY'S MISSION: PROTECTION
Featuring: Ashley McCown, President, Solomon McCown & Company and Lisa Rowan-Gillis, Vice President of Development and Public Relations, The Home for Little Wanderers

We are pleased to announce the posting of our first Mission: Protection podcast. This series of conversations explores crisis communications and why it is a critical component of safeguarding an organization's mission, reputation and bottom line. SM& has developed dozens of crisis plans for local, regional and national mission-focused organizations and for-profit corporations. Patrick O'Heffernan and Ashley McCown, who runs SM&'s Crisis Communications & Litigation Relations Practice, will lead guests through a stimulating discussion to reveal key crisis communications principles.

As President of SM&, Ashley works closely with organizations to create crisis teams, conduct internal crisis communications audits, and establish and/or refine crisis plans. She has played a key role in many sensitive and complex issues including those involving public agencies and non-profits, human service providers, public health issues, labor negotiations and strikes, accusations of sexual harassment and abuse, state and federal investigations, workplace violence, and community relations for high-profile real estate developments. She often works in tandem with an organization’s leadership and boards, consultants and attorneys on public policy and legal issues.

A forceful presence and compelling voice, Ashley regularly speaks on crisis planning and management before trade associations and communications organizations. The media call upon her to comment on crises and litigation. She has appeared in regional dailies, trade publications and on TV and radio commenting on pressing issues for businesses and organizations.

Today's guest is Lisa Rowan-Gillis, Vice President of Development and Public Relations at The Home for Little Wanderers. Lisa joined The Home in 2001 and currently leads all fundraising and public relations efforts, oversees a team of 21, and works closely with the President and CEO, Joan Wallace-Benjamin, and the Board of Directors. She is a former social worker with more than 20 years experience in the marketing and public relations industries, previously working at the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, The Boston Parents’ Paper, and WBZ-TV. Lisa holds a BA in English and an MSW, both from Boston College.
